I don’t know how or why it took me so long to get to Portugal. It has been one of the large western europe countries that I never seemed to manage to visit (the other big one being Ireland). I am also now very far behind on writing and posting photographs, but once I get one I should probably rectify that. But back to the photograph. I found it surprising now after having been there for a short trip to Portugal that I never went earlier. I cannot wait to go back and see more. Porto was an interesting place, and an beautiful city. It was both lovely and fascinating and lived in and bustling. I love going to cities where the city centers feels like it’s a working place and not just a historic showcase. There were tourists in Porto but far less than I would have expected for a city it’s size. And it was fabulous to finally see the sun after spending the last few weeks in England in the rain and cold! When I commented to the receptionist at the hotel on how beautiful the weather was she commented that today was terrible because “There are clouds in the sky”. Clearly when the weather is lovely often it skews you thresholds on bad and good perhaps.

A country and a city which I’ve longed to see, too. A beautiful scene in your photograph.

It is such a lovely little town. As always wish i had more time in Portugal but time off during work trips is always amazingly short, so I was thankful for the time I had there.
Wow, that certainly looks amazing! Is the bridge on top also used by people? I didn’t make it to Portugal on my 70-day solo backpacking trip. Hopefully I can go back to Europe so I can also spend time there. (Visiting from TPThursday!)

The bridge on top is used by people (and by a tram). We walked across the top later on in our stay to get to the place up on the hill there. Portugal was nice, it was my first trip there after so many trips to europe in general!
Nice shot. I’ve spent a few days in Lisbon, but haven’t made it up to Porto yet. One day!

I wanted to go to Lisbon! How was it? The tickets to Lisbon were too expensive so I ended up in Porto instead. It wasn’t a bad choice, I did enjoy my stay there overall, but now I need to get back to Portugal and see Lisbon as well!
Beautiful! That bridge looks like an engineering marvel. We haven’t been to Portugal yet either but high on my list has always been a visit to Sintra.

I hope you make it to Portugal! It was a cool bridge, and I liked walking across the top area there. I have not been to Sintra or anywhere near Lisbon yet, but someday soon!
Beautiful photo! I have heard that Porto is lovely, however, Portugal is a country that we haven’t visited yet either.

It was a lovely city, but also a bit run down in some places too (although that was also part of it’s charm). I really enjoyed my short little stay in Portugal, cannot wait to get back and see more of the country!
