Friday Photo: Overlook in Shenandoah National Park

This is a lovely photo from the autumn here in Virginia as I just returned to work and life back in the US after my time in Jordan.  As we dig ourselves out of the snow here in Virginia, this seems like a lifetime apart from the weather and days we are experience now.  I’m in the process of moving to Virginia for at least the time being, not sure how long that will actually be.

This was part of my attempt to do some exploring in my own backyard, so to speak.  It seems so much easier to go and explore far away lands than it is to explore those within a few hours of your own house.  Why is that?  Does it just not seem exotic enough?  Perhaps it’s just more interesting to go and drive far away than it is to go close to home.  There are always so many things vying for your attention near your house, and oddly hour drives at home seem further then day drives on the other side of the world.

Thanks for always hosting the linkup. it is quite a great thing you have managed to do it so many weeks! Yeah, hopefully the new state, new thoughts. But my mind is always on things so far away so its hard to bring it back home :)

It is an absolutely wonderful place. It is also the closest national park to me for most of my life, and the one I have just recently visited. I need to go back, there are a lot of things to see there and in the region. I hope you manage to get there as well, it is worth the trip. Perhaps not as impressive as the west coast parks but still great in its own right.

Can’t always say it’s good to be home ;) But it is good in many regards. Travel makes things well full…there is always so much going on, you feel like you live weeks in the span of days. But the pace of home and seeing family and friends is always a nice place to be. How are things with you? The weather will I think get better soon, but we still have a few more weeks of winter!

It is always just there, and “normal: :). Yes I remember living in California for several months and the locals saying how I saw more of California then they ever did! It is that way for sure. London must have been amazing though. How long have you been back?
