It’s not a beautiful photograph by any means of the word. But I find it amusing and that is enough for me. It is the “famous” dog on the tuckerbox located in Snake Gully a few miles from Gundagai, NSW. Never heard of it? Then you certainly need to get out more! It is based on a poem that celebrated a driver’s dog who loyally guarded his lunch on a daily basis. I maybe be strange but I love little folklore and historical things such as this. It gives a insight into a time and place far from home. I find the story amusing and it reminds me a bit like the Hachiko story from Japan, with the dog that waited for his master daily. It’s certainly not worth the detour but if it strangely happens to be on your way like it was for me, take a stop and learn a little about the little dog and his master’s tuckerbox.
